Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) is seeking Software Testers to join the Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Programs group in the Baltimore, MD area within the NGC Healthcare Systems Management Division in support of the Medicare Beneficiary Database Suite of Systems (MBDSS)/Medicare Enrollment and Premium Billing Systems (MEPBS) programs. MBDSS, a suite of application systems, is a data exchange for a number of Medicare business processes. MEPBS is the system of record for Medicare Enrollment, Direct Billing for Medicare premium for the population not eligible for SSA benefits or cannot be covered by SSA, and Third Party system covering Medicare premium. These are CMS mission critical systems that play a key role in integrating various CMS internal systems and external business partners. The systems are characterized by a large number of internal and external interfaces and high volume data processing. Northrop Grumman is the prime contractor for MBDSS/MEPBS programs.
Role: The Tester typically performs the following tasks:
  • Perform smoke testing, integration testing, regression testing, and formal qualification testing in an agile software development environment.
  • Documents any software defects that may be identified during testing.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software test plans, software test cases, software test procedures, and automated software tests in compliance with program functional, technical, and performance requirements.
  • Work with the lead test engineer and a team of software developers to establish and develop test methods and techniques.
  • Troubleshoot and modify test tools and test scripts.
  • Generate software test data, perform test data analysis, and develop test documentation.
  • Participate in formal software inspection process, customer meetings, and user events.
  • Provide support to customer testers during acceptance testing, including test procedure walkthroughs, documentation of testing issues and test results, and answering questions on system functionality.
  • Shall have experience with test automation tools.
  • Sets up test environments to allow test cases to be executed in the mainframe and mid-tier environments. This may consist of selecting and/or entering test data into database tables and/or input datasets.
  • Plans, executes, optimizes, monitors and reports various flavors of user interface (UI) testing including but not limited to System, 508 Compliance, Acceptance, Regression, and Web Performance and Load Testing.
  • Collects test evidence that documents how the system performed during testing, whether correct or otherwise.
  • Documents test cases and results in a Test Case Specification and a Test Summary Report.
  • Provides statuses to the Project and Technical Managers.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Demonstrates skills in problem solving and responsibility for ensuring customer satisfaction.
